Obituary of GERALD L. HINKLEY

Gerald (Jerry) L. Hinkley, husband, father and friend, passed away peacefully in his sleep on November 21st, 2018 at his home in Brooksville, Florida. Sharon, his wife of 15 years, was by his side. Jerry was born on February 26th, 1947 in Biddeford, Maine. He attended Thorton Academy and then enlisted in the United States Air Force, where he served a tour in Tuy Hoa, Vietnam. After his return, he worked numerous jobs until he decided to return to the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard in Kittery, Maine until his retirement in 2009. He and Sharon sold their home in Lyman, Maine and kept a camp in Lebanon, Maine and traveled to Brooksville, Florida for the winter where they would eventually buy a home. Jerry is survived by his wife Sharon Haggerty Hinkley, his two children – Nickie Gagne (Sanford, ME), and Janice Steele (Jacksonville, FL), his three step-children – Dawndra Cameron (Burlington, IA), Mike Cameron (Peoria, IL), and Mary Cameron (Peoria, IL). He is also survived by his five grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, and his brothers Donald Hinkley (Orono, ME) and Robert Hinkley (Gray, ME). Services will take place at a later date.
