Obituary of Robert Joseph D'onofrio

Robert J. D’Onofrio (known to most as Bob) (74) of Spring Hill, FL passed away on Sunday, June 5th, 2022. Bob was born in New York City, New York to Robert and Blanche D’Onofrio on April 24th, 1948. He was a graduate from State University of New York (SUNY) earning an Associate in Applied Science with a Major in Ornamental Horticulture. Bob proudly served in the U. S. Army during the Vietnam War. Most notably, Bob built a thriving business from scratch going from one truck and only himself as an employee to a fleet of trucks and many valued employees. He leaves behind the Suncoast Turf Care and Pest Management legacy to continue to serve the community. Bob is preceded in death by his parents Robert and Blanche D’Onofrio and incredible niece Karen. Survivors include his beautiful fiancée Linda, his beloved children: Heather, Jason, & Jared, his cherished sister Barbara, his lovable niece Kim, his seven adored grandchildren: Dylan, Chase, Evan, Brayden, Jackson, Gabryella, & Sawyer, and his precious great-granddaughter Tessa. Visitation will be held on Monday, June 13th, 2022 at Pinecrest Funeral Home, 3369 Mariner Blvd, Spring Hill, FL 34667 from 3:00pm - 5:30pm. Additional visitation on Tuesday, June 14th, 2022 9:00am - 10:00am before beginning a procession to Florida National Cemetery, 6502 SW 102nd Ave, Bushnell, FL 33513 for an 11:00am Military Burial. For the graveside burial, please dress like you’re boarding a cruise ship (relaxed tropical attire) to send Bob off on his final cruise. It’s truly an impossible task to summarize someone that meant so much to so many in this succinct format, but we’re going to try… Bob’s smile was pure sunshine… when that radiant glow broke through his sometimes gruff exterior it made you feel included in the world’s best inside joke. He definitely had an amazing way of making everyone feel loved and appreciated. He was a man that ranked his grandchild’s birthday party in another state right up there with seeing The Rolling Stones on a Vegas stage. He wouldn’t be a second late to either event. His punctuality was actually legendary, so do NOT be late for dinner because you will sit around the table EVERY night eating your vegetables and drinking your milk. He loved feeding and adopting stray animals (and animals donated from his children for various reasons), spending quality time with friends and family, sitting on cruise ship balconies overlooking the ocean, feeling the wind in his face while driving his corvette with Linda at his side, and most of all, setting the example of a life well lived and departing with dignity. Bob never complained as cancer ravaged his body for more than two years, robbing him of the ability to eat and drink and draining his energy. He still showed up for work, for family, for friends, and even theme park adventures, … never once shadowing the time shared by pointing out his limitations or his pain. He lived such an incredible life, he touched so many people, shared so many smiles, made such phenomenal memories, but yet the time here on earth was much too short. To say he’ll be missed is a vast understatement… to say life will never be the same is accurate but still lacking… To say we’ll think of and miss him every single day whether in sadness, in fondness, in reverie, in laughter, or in a painful combination of every emotion begins to brush the surface of this overwhelming grief.
