Obituary of Brigitte Elisabeth Hendrickson

Brigitte Elisabeth Hendrickson, of Brooksville, Florida passed away on May 3rd, 2022 at the age of 85. Born in Rathenow, Germany, Brigitte was the beloved daughter of Ernst and Elisabeth Ludke. She lived through World War II and the Russian occupation of East Germany. In 1957, she met her husband, Norman Hendrickson in the Air Force and moved to the United States in 1959. Arriving in America speaking very little English, she taught herself the language through crossword puzzles, a hobby she would continue for the rest of her life. She worked at Amtrak for ten years. She then went on to own her own business and become the “Leather Lady”. In the early 2000s, Brigitte and her husband Norman retired to Florida where they enjoyed their later years. Brigitte's biggest pride in life was her family. She was a devoted mother and grandmother who looked forward to spending time with her loved ones. She enjoyed traveling, she enjoyed sports and was an avid fan of the Red Sox and never missed a Tampa Bay Lightning game. She was always a winner at the casino and she enjoyed going to shows and concerts with her husband. She is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, Norman D. Hendrickson; her daughters Denise (David) Gentile, Linda Landis (Kevin Hanson) and Maureen Orfe (David Geiger).She was also a cherished grandmother to Jennaca, John, Caitlyn, Brittany, Jeffrey, Kelsey, Jason, Amber, Joseph, David and Frederick as well as devoted great grandmother to Christopher, Chase, Sarah, Gwen, Benjamin, Amelia and Aubrey. She was predeceased by her parents, her brother Heinz, her son Frederick, her granddaughter Rachel and her grandson Domenic.
