I apologize for my tardiness, colleagues and I only just learned of Nanci’s passing. It is still sinking in. I worked for a sister federal office and had retired a few years before Nanci retired. We met in the early 2000s, and managed our respective parts of a major project that went into a messy and stressful 5 year litigation with a company—one of those big government litigations that threatened to go another 5 years. I will say, I could not have prevailed at my work if Nanci had not succeeded at her end of things, and neither would the government. I was amazed, and suspect Nanci spent as much or more uncompensated time than me, nights, weekends and all. I especially remember how she deftly managed the in your face rudeness we dealt with, especially from people on our own team. The details are not important, we succeeded largely because of Nanci’s great effort. Nanci was an unflinching professional, never complained, exceptionally proficient, a can do person. A joy to work with. A beautiful person who enriched my life in the process. Someone I am glad to have known and will never forget. My sincerest condolences to her family and loved ones.
