ARTHUR LUKE DOYLE JR. January 20, 1922 - July 5, 2020 Arthur (Art) L. Doyle Jr. passed away on July 5, 2020 at home in Spring Hill, Florida. Art was born in Frankfort, Kentucky to Arthur and Elsie Doyle. Kentucky born and bred he grew up in Covington and Ft. Mitchell, Kentucky. He graduated from Beechwood High School in Ft. Mitchell, where he was Salutatorian of his class and was awarded a Scholarship at Xavier University, Cincinnati, Ohio where he majored in Mathematics. He was inducted into active military service in February 1941 in the U.S. Army from the Kentucky National Guard until he was discharged in July 1942 to accept appointment to the United States Military Academy, West Point, New York. He graduated in June 1945 in one of the 3 year accelerated classes due to World War II majoring in Military Science and Engineering. Shortly after being commissioned he was assigned to the Philippines where he earned Philippine Liberation and Independence Medals for his service. He was later recognized with a Bronze Star Medal for his service in Korea in 1953 and 1954. His greatest joy in life was his large family who loved him dearly. He had two brothers William (Bill) Doyle (deceased) & sister-in-law Patty and Jack Doyle & sister-in-law Anne. He is survived by his devoted spouse Maria Doyle with whom he celebrated his 25th anniversary on December 10. His children include his son Arthur Doyle III, daughters Madeline Miller and Jane Parsons and William Doyle (deceased) from his first marriage to Roseann Doyle (deceased). Douglas Goering (stepson) and Dorothy Pratt (stepdaughter) from his marriage to Margaret Goering Doyle (deceased). He is also survived by his stepsons from his marriage to Maria: Alex Maimone, Warren Burke and Edward Burke. He had eight grandchildren, eleven step grandchildren, as well as many great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. Following retirement from a 20- year military career which took Art to numerous locations with his young family ranging from New York to Texas, Japan and West Germany he also entered federal service from which he retired in 1982. Retirement brought Art to his present home in Spring Hill, Florida along with Margaret where they were very active with their Jehovah Witness congregation. He continued his active involvement with the congregations in Spring Hill after Margaret’s passing working many hours as a Pioneer. After Hurricane Andrew he traveled to Homestead, Florida to assist with recovery efforts. He met his loving wife Maria who was a member of his congregation and they married in 1994. Their life together was busy with activities and visits and the joys of becoming much loved grandparents and great-grandparents. Art is also fondly remembered by the many brothers and sisters of his extended Jehovah Witness church family. Due to the pandemic, a memorial service and burial will be scheduled at a later date to properly honor his memory. He will be greatly missed. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to all those who have reached out to them.
