My sincere and deepest sympathy to David, Peter, and family of Alice. My childhood memories would never be complete without fond memories of this wonderful woman. I grew up next door to her rambunctious family, and have many great memories- playing in the yards or street, cadets, the dogs (and other exotic animals), her cherished magnolia tree, and many other memories- too many to list. She and her husband Pete were good friends and neighbors with my parents and grandparents. I’m glad we stayed in touch all these years after moving away- with cards, phone, emails, and I wish you all peace and comfort in the knowledge that she had such a long, fulfilled life. She loved her family fiercely, as I’m sure she will continue to do in the next place.

Our sympathies to all of you. Alice was quite an interesting lady and a force to be reckoned with! The day we were moving in on the corner of Orangewood, up the driveway came this woman welcoming us and waving a copy of the Hoa covenants.i was proud to serve with her on the board.Any questions was “go ask Alice”! We offered to shop for her during the pandemic, her response, thanks but I figured out how to shop online and get delivery! That was Alice .She will be missed .Eileen and Bruce Hartman

Alice, you are now at peace wrapped in the loving embrace of God’s joy that you have returned home.
Alice lived a long and good life .... 95 yo! She was an amazing woman, wife and mom. My years of experiences with Alice were from my perspective as a 2 to 15 year old boy and best friend those years with her son Geoffrey. Geoffrey and I grew up together as we played and palled around together in each other’s houses, our backyards and 52 Ave and schools. Geoffrey was my best friend and we grew up together in Maspeth, Queens, NYC from 1954 through 1967. My memories of Mrs. Franceschina (Alice) were that she was always kind and fair and wise and a great mom to her 3 boys. I remember Alice’s meals, her friendly loving voice, the summer vacations at Rosendale as she invited me with her family, bungalow at Oakdale, swimming with Geoffrey, Peter, and Davey in their pool. I’m remembering years and years of Alice helping Geoffrey and me as we played in the sand box and each other’s yard’s together, and sometimes going to school together. My mom always spoke highly of Alice as her friend and great neighbor. Loved those family barbecues in each other’s yards. Alice would come to our aide with kindness, wisdom and compassion when Geoffrey and I got into some trouble or other that you know 2 boys growing up together can get themselves into. How about the time Alice Franceschina saved the hide of 2 little boys (guess who?) after we picked all the pears off of Geoffrey’s grandpa’s special pear tree.
Thank you Alice, for all those years of kindness and love given to Geoffrey and me and your whole family. Since those years of growing up and during living a long life as an adult I have come to realize what spirit truly means to me. It’s not in the material stuff of life but rather in finding beautiful meaning in the very spiritual qualities of compassion and kindness and joy and love that you Alice Franceschina so essentially and gracefully embodied.
Alice, you are now at peace wrapped in the loving embrace of God’s joy that you have returned home.

Alice was a great friend and neighbor and we miss her. We will forever have great memories of her when we think about such things as flea markets, big band music, black Russians, pre-dawn walks, and on and on. She loved her neighborhood (past and present) ,dogs, flowers and most of all her boys.

We are very sorry for the loss of you dear Mother, Alice. We remember Alice as intelligent with a great sense of humor. Alice loved her family and was a great roll model for her sons and grandchildren. We kept in touch with Christmas cards and Alice would give us an update on her family. Our deepest Sympathy for your loss.
Alice was a wonderful lady who was so dear to my heart. We have been neighbors and friends for over 20 years. We enjoyed going out to breakfast many times and had a lot of heart to heart talks. I admired her in so many ways. I respected her for her honesty and truthfulness. She will be deeply missed by myself and many others.

Alice and I were neighbors for a very long time, and we also spent many hours at meetings for our Homeowner's Association for which she worked as the Secretary. She was a strong, hard worker, and a dedicated person who cared for her community. She even received a plaque for all the tireless years that she spent helping her community. We were friends 'til the end, and we shared our love of books; she was an enthusiastic reader. We all enjoyed her sense of humor, and she wasn't afraid to tell you how she felt. I will always remember her, and was glad she was my friend and part of my life. Our deepest condolences to her beloved family.

My deepest condolences to the family.
It was a pleasure to know Alice. I met Alice at the Long Island Bank where I was an Internal Auditor. She was all business but a great sense of humor as the Auditors arrived. Eventually I became the SBLI Manager as the Department was moving to Melville, Long Island. Alice was a great teacher and mentor. I learned from the very best.
I have been very fortunate to be in contact with Alice all these years. I looked forward to her annual Christmas card and news of the year. I will miss her letters and chat. She was very special.

Our family was so fortunate to have Alice as a neighbor for the last 17 years. She was a true inspiration to all of us. We greatly admired her fierce independence, volunteerism, and can-do attitude as well as her spunk. Many times I can remember remarking to others that I hope I'm just like her one day. I will miss talking to her about beagles and books! My family and I were certainly blessed to call her neighbor and friend. She will be greatly missed!

Alice was a real character. Strong, independent, moral and kind. She was the best neighbor anyone could ask for. She never minded when our dogs came barreling through her yard, in fact she would bring them treats. I always remember watching her mow her lawn and say to myself I hope I’m that strong when I’m her age. Alice will be missed. The world was a better place with her ini it.

Many hours spent in the bus with Mrs. Pete and Mr. Pete back in the days of St. Mary's Cadets. She treated us all as if we were her own. A great lady - thanks for the great memories.
